Netflix

NETFLIX is a company that rents us some DVDs via post as well as some movies online.
We actually got a free one month trial through 'Papa John's', a pizza company. We got addicted to pizza as well as NETFLIX. This company not only gives us movie DVDs but it also gives some TV serials. My family, we used to watch some of the Television series in US. They are pretty awesome. Sometimes we miss the continuation because of our vacation. We used to catch up on this NETFLIX.
You may wonder, 'why so many 'build-up' on this company?'. 'Are they giving any sponsorship for this particular blogger?'.
I wish they could but I'm not earning a single cent because of this advertisement. All I got is 'four' free one-month trial on Netflix for my friends.
I thought I could give that to my readers who keeps my blog alive. I could give this opportunity only for people who resides in USA. For those outside USA, I feel terribly sorry to say Netflix doesnot stream.

I appreciate all my readers for spending their valuable time reading my blog. Thank you so much!

For those who want this one month free trial kindly mail me to the following id:
kirukalgalblog@rocketmail.com

I just need your e-mail id to mail the free trial code and no address or phone number required.

First Day!

Disney Ariel Backpack
 9.9.2010
This day is one of the most important days of my life. My 3yr old daughter is ready for her school. The most expected little separation. She was excited but I was worried. Even though she speaks english, I don't know how she is going to manage in her school . I didn't sleep the night before her school. They had the full day school. It starts from 8:45 a.m. and closes at 2:35 p.m. I was worried a lot. She never had lunch with a stranger and she always came to me when she wants to sleep. I was very much tensed. Even though she was excited she doesn't know that I won't be there. So I started to prepare her before a week. I told her I cannot stay with her in school because I'm a big girl. She said, "Ok! Mommy" but still I was not convinced. What will my little one do without me for the first few months in her school.
The day came, I woke up early and started to get ready. Prayed God to give her and also me strength for this little separation. I promised my husband I'll be fine and asked him to go to work. We went to school. We were seated in the auditorium, the vice principal gave many instructions and most importantly she asked the parents not to cry. "Experienced people!" I thought to myself. After getting her class room number I met her teacher. The most kind lady shook my girl's hand and gave her a gentle hug, made her sit next to her. She asked me to place her 'backpack' in one of the provided shelf. When I turned around I saw my daughter playing with the toys in the room. I thought may be she feels safe in my presence. I filled out some emergency telephone numbers and address in the given form. I gave it to the teacher , she immediately said you can leave because your daughter is not crying.
I donot want to leave. I just wanted to make 100% sure that she is ok. I called her, to my surprise she said, "no!". I asked her, "Can amma go home?" she said , "Yes!, bye". I said to myself, "She may feel my absence during her lunch and nap!". I left the class room. I went home and saw the emptiness in my home. I missed her a lot. Thought for a reason to go back to school. Got it!. Went back to school with some of the supplies given in the form. Found her happily having lunch with other children.
This time I was not at all worried instead felt very happy to see the sweet smile on her face.

Now I am worried how to get her back to home ;)

Boycott Sri Lanka!

I know the title sounds a bit 'terror' wait until you finish this blog, it's really a 'horror'.

On July 3rd to 5th, We went to the Tamil Convention, FeTNA in Connecticut. It was awesome. Everyone who gave a speech mentioned about the 'Tamil Eelam' problem in Sri Lanka. Tamilians speaking about saving Tamilians is a known fact. It was a slap on my face only when Americans spoke about this problem. To my surprise, they are 'requesting' us to "Boycott" just by selling $1 Bumper Stickers , $10 T-Shirts and free post cards for this process.

            The speeches were given by,
             Dr. Francis Boyle
             Dr. Adele Barker and
             Dr. Ellyn Shander.

The following link leads to their speeches.
              http://www.sivajitv.com/events/francis-boyle-speech-fetna-2010.htm

I was ashamed. When they can do that, I wanted to do something. So I thought of spreading a word about this. That word is "Boycott". It's enough for us to stop buying the products 'Made from Sri Lanka'. I don't think that's difficult or is it?.

If you are living in USA, you must have come across the following stores:

  • VICTORIA'S SECRET
  • MACY'S
  • GAP
  • Abercrombie & Fitch
  • AMERICAN EAGLE
  • KOHL'S
  • BANANA REPULIC
  • LiZ claiborne
  • Limited Brands
While you are shopping in those stores kindly look for the label. If it read, 'Made in Sri Lanka' please choose another one.
I believe that one step can lead to another. We can save our people.

India's National Language ?!?

For all these years I used to think "Hindi is our National Language(In India)", that was they taught us in school too.
Since I'm from Tamil Nadu, we are not insisted much to speak in Hindi. But when I went to Bangalore for my College Project,  it became an issue. People started to ask about it. Some even tease ( Whether they know it or not) by saying, "How come you don't know your National Language?". I felt insulted.
Whether there are people to help or not, but I am sure there are people to insult.
In my daughter's dance class, parents are compelled to stay there while the child attends the class.
Parents are requested to sit in the visitor's room.
Most of the parents are from North India. Hindi is the common language among them. I do not want to go through this trouble again, so I used to read a novel while others chat.
Yesterday, it was different. Since the summer classes are going to be over, we were discussing about the regular classes. At that time we were talking in English and one mother asked me my mother tongue. I told her. Then, we started to talk about each others mother tongue. Guess what,  I discovered that there are people in North India who doesn't know hindi.
I was really surprised and thanked the mom who told me that she learned hindi only few years back. Another Mom came forward and said, "if you want I can teach you". After all these years as soon as I heard that, I immediately said, "Yes. Thank You".
I told this to my husband, who thought I wanted to learn Hindi only to watch "Hindi Movies!". I was excited and told him, "So finally now I can learn my National Language".
He was shocked, he asked me, "What? Who told you that Hindi is your National Language?".
I said proudly, "My school text book, my teachers. I listen to my teachers you know."
My husband said, "May be. But it is not". Now, I was shocked. I told him, "I'm 100% sure. Wait until I'll GOOGLE and tell you" and to my surprise I found out this link,
http://www.merinews.com/article/hindi-our-national-language/126953.shtml
My husband after hearing the above story (above the link) told me, "the next time if somebody insults you for not knowing the 'National Language', tell them that India doesn't have any National Language and it is just one of the official languages in addition to English. Since you know English you need not worry about Hindi."

Now,  I take this 'post' as an opportunity to tell all the people who insults and got insulted not to worry about it.

P.S: "Shock Tamil Movie" a vida athiga shock intha blog thaannu naan ninaikiraen ;)

Vettaikaran!

After such a long time, I'm back with "Vettaikaran"!
"ssssssss, appa mudiyallai!"

Actually, I stopped seeing Vijay films long time ago. You all know the reason, few actors in Tamil industry can be referred as "Telugu to Tamil" dictionary and Vijay is one of them. I always prefer the original version, but this film is different I started to get forwarded mails teasing this movie, even before its release. I was curious "enna thaan mokka padama irunthaalum ipadiya jananga react panrathunnu".
Padam paarthathukapuram thaan therinjathu, some fwds are true and can be trusted.
While watching this film you will automatically say "dhillupa", "dhoolupa". These are not credits, these are the movies you'll remember for some scenes.Intha rendu padam mattum illai innum "Pudhiya mannargal", "Sivaji", "Saamy" apadinnu aduki kittae pogalaam. Paathi padathula you'll get a feeling voru vaela ithu "Tamil Padam" , "Lollu sabha" maathiriyo nnu.
"Masala padam" apadingarathukku this movie is the best example. I understand Vijay is a GREAT fan of "Super star", avara maathiri nadikka try pannrathu thapu illai athai apadiya copy adicha aetho fancy dress competition paakra maathiri irukku.

I was very happy to see the super villain, "Salim Ghouse" after such a long time. I still cannot forget his role as "Jintha" in "Vetri Vizha", it was the best.In this movie he had done his bestnu thaan sollanum paavam avar enna pannuvaru script apadi.
The actor who acts in the role of "chella", should be mentioned. He had done his best but I think he is from another state, he reacts like he doesn't understand the dialogues in most of the scenes.Enakku voru doubt, enna thaan voruthangalukku swimming theriyalana kooda, thannila vizhuntha try koodava panna maataanga...

Heroine Anushka is pretty. Her role is more like a girl with only looks and ofcourse she does a pretty good job in songs.

Sathyan and Sukumaari kudutha rolea correcta panni irukaanga.
Music director Vijay Antony has done a good job in music.
Vijay imitates pretty much all the Tamil actors.
Mothathil "Vettaikaran" voru "Veshakaaran" .
